Happy New Year 2007

I hope you had a great new year - I myself threw caution to the wind and went into the city. After finding a neat car park in Little Lonsdale St I joined the sea of humanity that was surging towards Flinders Street Station...my god - what a mix of people. Mostly scary I must admit - huge gangs of roving male teenagers all sporting the sucked mango or neo-mullet look and with hunger for booze and flesh - 20 something’s squeezed into cocktail dresses, high heels and Bacardi breezers - harassed grandparents - screaming kids - lost tourists - two people on bikes (now rendered useless), a women with a broken leg being pushed in a wheelchair (in a crowded street - ouch) - street hawkers selling 10 cent glow sticks for $5 and loving it - three certified insane people - small packs of policemen and women looking strained and three Chinese princesses handing out flyers.

Many hours later....I had:

Seen the 9.30pm fireworks from a relatively deserted Arts Centre forecourt
Spilt a drink on Judy from Sydney who I had just met
Waited 20 mins at a bar for drink
Had two dances before the band quit
Took photos for a table full of strangers
Watched the fireworks from the balcony of the Blue Diamond club (well...what we could see...some spurts off the top of a very phallic Casino building...a touch anticlimactic)

Smoked a cigar
Felt trashed at Eurotrash
Met some lovely French folks , one of whom was a logistics coordinator for Barbie (the doll)
Wandered the streets of Melbourne feeling like an observer, sidestepping vomit and trying not to get into any fights.
Stopped off in Brunswick Street to eat one of the garlickiest Souvlakis ever known to man

ahhhhhh another new year gone in a classy fashion....

Some good nerdy fan news to start the year with:

INDY IV TO START PRODUCTION IN 2007.
In a long-awaited announcement from Lucasfilm, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg revealed that the fourth instalment of INDIANA JONES would begin production in June 2007. Harrison Ford returns in his role as the daring Dr. Jones for the new adventure. The film will be produced by Lucasfilm Ltd., directed by Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures throughout the world in May 2008. The screenplay has been written by David Koepp.

Spielberg said, "George, Harrison and I are all very excited. We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones."

The film will be produced by Frank Marshall, with Lucas and Kathy Kennedy as exec producers. "Working with Steven, Frank, Kathy and the INDY crew is like working with family," adds Lucas, who just served as grand marshal of the Rose Parade. "These films are such great fun to make. I'm looking forward to reuniting with the team and starting this new journey."

Ford commented, "I'm delighted to be back in business with my old friends. I don't know if the pants still fit but I know the hat will."

The movie will be shot on undisclosed locations around the world, as well as in the U.S., including L.A.
