A world premiere first-look poster for the upcoming Fringe festival show. We have a name but what does it all mean? The rumour mill is again going mild with speculation. What do you think this cryptic clue means? Stay tuned for more info as it comes to hand.

Press Release 08/06/2014
Lliam Amor’s New Project to Open September, 2014
June 08,
2014
With
pre-production in full-swing, a confirmed release date of September, 2014, has
been set for Lliam Amor’s highly anticipated Fringe festival show.
"We're
very excited to share the official 2014 release date for Lliam’s show,
where it will not only anchor the popular Fringe season but also ensure our
extraordinary theatre team has the time needed to deliver a sensational show,"
said a representative from Lliam Amor’s as-yet- unnamed Project.
The Show will be directed by Jason Geary
(Sketch-aggeddon, Spark, The i-Select guy) and is being devised
by Amor. Popular light and sound wizard, Josh Dore has also recently confirmed
his involvement as has the legendary space The Butterfly Club.
Rehearsal
is scheduled to begin winter 2014 in a lounge room somewhere in the suburbs.
No word on the title yet but speculation has been rife "Lliam Amor: The Ancient Feart", "Lana Del Ray Winstone" and perhaps the most curious "Can you Feel the Amor Tonight?"
Amor and Exploding Cigar Productions has still not commented on the rumor.

Speculation!
Lliam Amor’s Facebook page has published a press release about his upcoming Melbourne Fringe festival show that officially confirms rehearsals will begin in June or July and speculates that the show will feature three new characters together with some very familiar faces.
Check out the official statement below:
Lliam Amor and Exploding Cigar Productions are excited to announce that principal brainstorming on his new project, directed by Jason Geary, will commence at the end of May 2014, and will be based at Melbourne's legendary venue The ButterflyClub.
This will be the first Lliam Amor stage show to start in the month of May. Known for his meticulous attention to hyperbole and self-aggrandizement, his production crew will be documenting the process for every installment of the Festival saga. Fans have already set the internet forums ablaze with mild speculation about its title and whether there will be nudity or strobe lighting. An official spokesperson for Lliam Amor neither confirmed nor denied this questioning, “Knowing Lliam as I do he’ll probably entertain the thought of nudity but not in connection with this bold new venture… oh it might feature three new characters together with some very familiar faces though... now please excuse me I’m late for a meeting with SFX”. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time. More information will be posted as it comes to hand.

Comics Vs Film
Apart from the darkening of the heroic purpose - it's the wanton disregard for the three colour costume that irks me the most. What's so wrong with honouring the origin? I think kids need daggy heroes more than ever before.
I always preferred the Bat in a Grey cowl.
Super ribbing? And where are his pants?
Look at that perfect design on his forehead and then compare to the tennis net on the right.
This one is the worst. Yawn. Frank Miller's frustrated stab at the Batman franchise backfires and leaves Spirit fans EVERYWHERE bitter and shaking their heads.
Hollywood - keep your muted tones, your perfect CGI and your lack of faith and leave our treasures alone.
Don't get me started on the Looney Tunes.

The Increasingly Handsome Adventures...
Hello everyone!
I trust you are all well and rested. It’s nearly Comedy Festival time so why not come and celebrate the formation of the brand new sketch comedy group 'Merit Badge: Adventure' by buying many tickets to see “The Increasingly Handsome Adventures of Earl Bircher and Other Tales of Adventures!”
It’s a three part serial + sketch show that pays homage to the great adventure serials of the ‘40s and films like Indiana Jones and Mystic Pizza (one for the ladies). You’ll laugh and cry (tears of joy – or soy if you’re not a joy person).

New Year - new updates?
Ok, ok, ok so it's been May since the last update. I blame the curse of facebook, twitter and flickr - the tiresome burden of having to choose which one to layer with some sparkling bon mot, hilarious image or scantily clad anecdote... is all too much. Woe is me.
So here's what's been happening in the past few months:
Enjoyed myself immensely chewing the scenery as the dastardly villain "Menzies McFadden" in Channel 11's criminally underwatched "MicroNation" (watch it all online) - I can't believe more people didn't tune in at 6.25 pm to watch the funniest 5 minutes of television a night (fingers crossed for a DVD - I really want to do some commentary). Great cast, great writers , great production team, great director, so-so pelicans....
There's a famous story about Marlon Brando turning up on set during the filming of 'Apocolypse Now'
"When Brando arrived, he shocked everybody – he was enormous, maybe 300 pounds. "You couldn't see around him," says Frederickson. This gave Coppola palpitations, as he had envisioned Kurtz as a lean and hungry warrior. Also, what the hell was he going to wear? There was no Green Beret uniform on earth big enough!" - The Independent.co.uk
This is how I imagined Andrew Garrick must have felt when I totted on to the set (I have since given up a load of sugary treats and lost some kgs...).
I've also been participating in a wonderful show, imaginatively titled: Impro Sketch. I came up with the idea to 'borrow' the Second City format of combining revue and improv in 2011 and approached Impro Melbourne AD Jason Geary about mounting a production. We both agreed it was a great idea and sorely needed but it got put aside as other things came along and time went by and our baby was born and it sort of slipped through my fingers and ended up in the hands of Jason and Jimmy James Eaton (from the local improv group The Big Hoo Haa!).
The combined forces of these two companies was a blast of fresh air that buoyed the members of this fledgling group along as we cautiously began the long process of writing, editing, casting and performing.
What we ended up with was a consistently funny show with loads of laughs and a more than a couple of stinkers (ya gotta have them folks). There will be more later this year and I can't wait to see what emerges.
Here's a bunch of poster and book designs I did for various shows during the second half of 2012 - you can find more (including a huge array of spot illustrations I have amassed over the years working for Fitness2live) at my Flickr account.
What does this year hold?
New comedy festival show! Amanda Buckley, Lee Naimo and I are mounting our first ever show under the moniker 'Merit Badge: Adventure' Here's a couple of teasers for the production:
More information to come soon.
